Summer University

students on the pierSummer courses at the DMC are part of UMaine’s Summer University. These accredited courses are open to students from UMaine and other institutions. They incur regular UMaine tuition and fees.

UMaine students can register directly through MaineStreet and obtain any necessary permissions through the School of Marine Sciences administrative office. Non-UMaine students should contact the DMC programs manager at dmc@maine.edu to obtain any necessary permissions and receive links for registering through UMaine’s Summer University. Registration opens February 1.

Summer courses at the DMC may include weekend/holiday class sessions or independent study. Students should plan to be available for course work for the duration of the course(s). Many classes run concurrently or overlap by a few days. Most conflicts can be resolved so students can enroll in multiple courses. Almost all permutations of courses are possible.

Summer courses at the DMC offer unique opportunities for undergraduate capstone and honors thesis projects. UMaine students enrolled in these courses and in need of a capstone project are encouraged to contact the instructor.

Room and board are available at the DMC for all summer courses. Rates are comparable to those paid on campus during the regular academic year.
