Thank you for your interest in the 2019 ocean optics class Calibration & Validation for Ocean Color Remote Sensing. It will be held at June 3-28 at the University of Maine’s Darling Marine Center in Walpole, Maine. The course is sponsored by NASA and the University of Maine, with the goal of preparing a new generation of oceanographers trained in the use of optics to study the oceans.
To apply:
- complete the online application form below.
- submit a recent transcript, a current CV (two-page maximum), a letter from your advisor, and a one-page statement of how you anticipate that this course will contribute to your professional development via email to Sasha Kramer, All material should be sent as PDF attachments.
- all application materials are due March 10, 2019
- selected applicants will be notified by April 1, 2019
Acceptance criteria: Likely impact of the class on the individual’s career, transcripts, letter from the academic advisor/supervisor, and diversity. Twenty students will be accepted. While the majority of the class will likely be composed of early career graduate students, advanced graduate students and post-doctoral fellows will be considered for admission.
