The adventure race, starting at the Darling Marine Center, features a dynamic multi-sport challenge. It begins with a paddling section on the Damariscotta River, where competitors navigate a roughly 1000-meter course towards McGuire Point and back over the DMC experimental aquaculture research site. The second leg consists of an approximately 10.5-mile cycling segment that combines gravel and paved roads, offering both rugged and smooth terrain. The race concludes with a 5k running portion that starts at the Darling Marine Center, turns around at the Willett House, and includes a mix of gravel and paved paths. Participants experience a diverse range of environments and challenges throughout the event.

Education is a core value of the Darling Marine Center, ranging from kindergarten all the way up through graduate students. With dedicated Outreach and Education staff, the Darling Marine Center supports targeted programming for K-12 students to experience and learn from marine ecosystems through hands-on activities. The reach of the DMC Education Program starts with local schools, and quickly extends through Lincoln County and beyond.

This race, organized by volunteers, directly funds the growth of this program to benefit our local K-12 students.
